On Tuesday during second period, we were going over some American history. In this class there is a very intelligent young man name Jonathan. Jonathan is the “brains” of this class he knows the answer to EVERYTHING! Whenever Ms. Nunley needs an answer he knows whom to call to. Like many kids his age, whenever he knows an answer to a question he gets excited. During this class session he does get called on to answer many of the questions, because the other students did not know. So his mood is very exciting at the moment, but Ms. Nunley is not too proud with the class performance. So she gets down on them, but continue to ask questions and Jonathan continues to know the answer. So he does begin to get out of hand for example, if he raises his hand and she tries to go to other students first he makes the “Ohh ohh” noise and says, “I know, I know”. That does get annoying, but when she kicks him out the class for it I was disturbed. When other students does it she do not pay it that close attention, but instead of correcting him she automatically kicks him out. He sits in another classroom and fills out a discipline slip and is missing some instructions. I really was disturbed by this method of discipline and felt as if this could possibly affect him from wanting to engage and show that he does know the answer, if he feels as if she will kick him out of the class for it.

"Superman"!!! Education?
I had class when The Fort Valley State education department held its showing of Waiting for Superman, but I did catch a glimpse of it. In the beginning of the movie the narrator expressed his feelings on how education was when he was growing up and how it is now; the changes that we have made and the progress that has happened, but there is still problems in education. How he related to Superman as the super saver of education was cool, because there is a hero needed to help our schools that is in need. After the viewing a few of my colleagues told me that someone said that, if we take the black males out of the classroom, schools would meet AYP. Statistics may show that this is true, but in my opinion it's because they hide the other race's problems and blow our up.And my point with this is that race still exists in education.

21st Century Classroom
Students today live, learn and play in a media-saturated society, so it is only smart to design the classroom as such. Imagine sitting in a 19th century classroom, what do you see? Chalk board, hard floor, desk, and the teacher’s desk with a red apple sitting on it and maybe some pictures with different drawings identifying the things pertaining to that subject.
Now vision a 21st century classroom, what do you see? A smart board, with an overhead projecting coming from the ceiling, instead of a desk there are round tables with computers inside them and chairs that are U shaped, the teacher desk sits high looking over everyone and she has a big fruit basket on it.
The 21st century class room that I vision has lots of colors and electronic devices. Students learn better with interaction and support, when I say support I am talking supportive things that can support the information they are trying to pertain.
- Hear- you hear kids communicating with one another, typing, soft calm music or the flow of water.
- See- you see computers, projectors, electronic maps, electronic pencil sharpeners, robots and maybe there is not a teacher their physically, but he or she is on a screen in Africa showing you the Sahara Dessert.
- Feel- you feel over whelmed, but confident. The overwhelmed comes from all the technology that you see in use, but you see that it is being used for learning. J
- Taste- you get a good taste in your mouth, a taste of learning in the 21st century and it is very sweet and greasy.
- Idea- you get an idea of what you can create to contribute to the awesomeness. Maybe some re-engineering to make the technology work faster, or make it easier to understand. You could invent an electronic shoe that can take the kids back in time or in the future to show them what education use to be to what is today.
